Current Issues – Connectivity & APN

Dear MIBCONIANS,

As we are aware, we currently facing connectivity hurdles. IT and Vodacom are working to ascertain what the fault is, and so far, the matter has not been resolved.

IT and Vodacom are currently actively attending to the matter, and it has been escalated at Vodacom.

In addition, the IT department is aware of the following issues affecting everyone:

1. APN connectivity
a. APN is currently down due to a fault. IT is liaising with service provider to diagnose the cause. This is currently an active investigation, with no ETA yet, but is receiving highest priority.

2. Network drops
b. With moving the entire Randburg office to the building next door, it has caused over utilization of our internet link at 275 Kent Ave, as we effectively doubled. We are engaged with the service provider to move the wireless link from 279 Kent to 275 Kent but can only do so once fibre has been installed at 279 Kent. ETA is currently next week at the earliest due to delays of the Dark Fibre Africa side. Both MIBCO IT and Seacom are pushing this to get it done as soon as possible.

3. General Network & Office 365
c. Multiple undersea cable breaks affecting the whole of Southern Africa also heavily impact MIBCO. All ISPs are affected. Even with it being advised that traffic is rerouted through functional cables, we have noted a degradation, in general and intermittently, in network\internet connectivity. Particularly affected are Microsoft services, including Emails, Teams and One Drive.

Further feedback will be provided as soon as there is progress.
